It is great for couples, families, or small groups of friends seeking to explore the Sahara Desert and Atlas Mountains. This excursion is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that consists of riding camels into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, followed by a delicious dinner and some time spent basking in the beauty of the Moroccan night sky.

Tour Highlights

    • The massive High Atlas Mountains: This mountain range spans across Morocco, and is home to the country’s highest peak, Mount Toubkal. Visitors can take in the stunning natural beauty of the mountains, including rugged peaks, deep valleys, and scenic waterfalls.

    • Unesco Heritage Ksar of Ait Benhaddou: This iconic site is a fortified city made up of earthen buildings, and is one of Morocco’s best-preserved examples of traditional architecture. It has been used as a backdrop for many famous movies, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

    • Old Caravan Road of thousands Kasbahs: This historic route was used by caravans traveling across the Sahara Desert to trade goods. Along the way, visitors can see numerous kasbahs, or traditional Moroccan homes made of earthen materials.

    • Gorgeous Toda Gorges & Tinghir Oasis: These natural wonders offer visitors a glimpse into the beauty of Morocco’s desert landscape. The Todra Gorges are a series of narrow canyons that have been carved out by the Todra River, while the Tinghir Oasis is a lush area of palm trees and other vegetation.

    • The camel ride experience: This is a quintessential Moroccan experience that visitors won’t want to miss. Riding a camel through the desert is a unique and unforgettable way to take in the beauty of the Sahara.

    • Amazing sunset & sunrise over Erg Chebbi sand dunes: The Erg Chebbi sand dunes are one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Morocco. Visitors can watch as the sun sets or rises over the dunes, casting a golden glow across the desert.

    • Glamping in luxury desert camping: Visitors can experience the beauty of the Sahara while enjoying the comforts of a luxury desert camp. This is a great way to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the desert.

    • Green Draa Valley & the village of 45 kasbahs: This lush valley is home to the Draa River and numerous palm groves, making it a stark contrast to the surrounding desert landscape. The village of 45 kasbahs is a historic site that offers a glimpse into the traditional way of life in Morocco.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou Ksar – Roses Valley – Dades Valley

At eight o’clock in the morning, our guide will pick you up to begin the “Desert excursion from Marrakech” to the Atlas Mountains. Before crossing the Tizi n Tichka Pass, we will stop at several panoramic viewpoints to capture breathtaking photographs and see the Berber mud dwellings. Along the route, we will stop for lunch and have the chance to explore the Ait Ben Haddou UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Kasbah in the city was once held by the Glaouis dynasty, who controlled Morocco. By evening, we will have crossed the largest oasis of Skoura and the roses valley. We will finish our 4 day Morocco tour at Dades Valley.

Day 2 : Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga desert

Merzouga is the next stop on our “4-days Morocco Desert Tour,” which began yesterday. Along the way, we are going to make a pit break in the verdant Oasis of Tinghir, which is home to hundreds of date palm trees. The next stop on our excursion will be the Moroccan grand canyon, which is a river that winds between enormous rocky clifts. The canyon is a well-known destination for rock climbers all around the world. By the evening, we will have made our way through a number of lovely towns and arrived at Erfod, the last city before entering the desert.
Before the sun goes down, get ready for a camel ride into the desert that will last for one hour. (You may also choose to walk next to the camels if you choose.) You will spend the night in a tent fashioned in the manner of Bedouins and get to experience sleeping beneath the stars. Our own private Morocco glamping, has less than 10 tents, so there won’t be aas many people as at other camping spots. Also, if you would rather avoid camping out in the desert, you may just take a camel ride for an hour to watch the sunset and then spend the night at the kasbah hotel.

Day 3 : Merzouga desert – Ouarzazate

Before starting your camel trek back from the desert, wake early to see the sunrise over the Sahara. During this four-day tour to Morocco, you will have the chance to hire a dune buggy, go on a quad ATV trip, or try sandboarding. After the activities in the desert, we will make our way to the nearby town of Khemliya, where you may tour this typical Saharan village and enjoy the music, dancing, and drumming.

Say goodbye to the desert and travel to the west and make a stop at Rissani. Famous for its cattle sale and “donkey parking lot.” (The market day is either Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday.) Continue driving west toward Ouarzazate, through umbrella-shaped acacia trees, before stopping for lunch at Alnif or N’Kob. Our next destination will be the vast Draa Valley. The largest Valley is well-known as an ancient caravan route. Along the way, we will stop to get a box of fresh dates from the local date palmery. Before we reach our Riad in the city of Ouarzazate, we shall photograph the Ait Saoune scenery.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech:

As you leave the stunning beauty of Ouarzazate behind and head towards Marrakech, the High Atlas Mountains begin to rise majestically in front of you. The drive through these towering peaks is a feast for the eyes, as you take in the breathtaking views of the rugged terrain and the Berber villages nestled amongst the slopes.

The High Atlas is the highest mountain range in North Africa, with peaks soaring to over 4000 meters in height. As you wind your way through the mountains, you’ll see the snow-capped peaks in the distance, a reminder of the harsh winters that these Berber communities endure. The mountain range is home to the indigenous Berber people, who have lived in the area for centuries and have their own unique culture, language, and customs.

As you travel through the High Atlas, you’ll pass through many small Berber villages, each with its own character and charm. These villages are dotted along the route, and each one offers a unique insight into Berber culture and daily life. You’ll see the traditional mud-brick homes, surrounded by terraced fields, where the locals grow crops such as olives, almonds, and barley. You may also spot the traditional Berber women weaving carpets and blankets, a skill that has been passed down through generations.

The High Atlas is not only home to the Berber people, but it is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. As you drive through the mountains, you’ll see the rugged terrain give way to lush valleys and forests. You may even spot some of the wildlife that call the area home, such as Barbary macaques, eagles, and wild boar.

As your journey through the High Atlas comes to an end, you’ll be left with a sense of awe at the beauty of this rugged and wild landscape. The High Atlas Mountains are a true wonder of the world, and a journey through them is an experience that will stay with you forever.

FAQ:

If you’re considering a 4-day Merzouga desert tour, you might be wondering when the best time to book your trip is. While there’s no one answer that fits everyone, there are some factors to keep in mind when planning your journey.

Firstly, the high tourist season in Morocco is typically from April to May and from September to November. During these months, the weather is usually mild, and the scenery is at its most beautiful, making it a popular time to visit. As a result, it may be more challenging to book a Merzouga desert tour during these months, so it’s essential to book well in advance to ensure availability.

On the other hand, visiting during the summer months can be quite challenging, as temperatures in the desert can soar to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If you choose to visit during this time, it’s vital to pack plenty of water and sun protection and be aware of the risk of heatstroke.

Another factor to consider when booking your Merzouga desert tour is your budget. The price of tours can vary depending on the time of year, with high-season tours often costing more than low-season tours. By booking well in advance or traveling during the low season, you may be able to save money on your trip.

Finally, it’s essential to be aware of any special events or festivals that may be taking place in the region during your planned visit. For example, the Moussem of Roses, Dates, Khamlia, an annual festival celebrating Saharan culture, takes place in late October, and the Imilchil Marriage Festival occurs in September. Attending one of these events can be a unique and unforgettable experience, but it’s crucial to book your trip well in advance, as many others may be planning to attend as well.

In conclusion, the best time to book your Merzouga desert tour depends on your preferences, budget, and availability. Whether you choose to visit during the high season to experience the most beautiful scenery or opt for a low-season tour to save money, planning your trip well in advance can help ensure availability and secure the best possible price. Additionally, keeping an eye on any special events or festivals can add a unique dimension to your journey, making it an experience you’ll never forget.

When planning for an overnight stay in the Merzouga desert, it is imperative to pack efficiently and bring only the essentials. To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience, consider bringing the following items during this 4 day Merzouga desert tour:

Firstly, while the days in the desert can be scorching, temperatures can plummet during the night, so it’s essential to bring warm clothing such as a jacket or sweater, long pants, and socks to keep yourself cozy and comfortable.

Secondly, you will be trekking through the sand, so it’s crucial to wear comfortable shoes or boots that offer support and protection for your feet.

Thirdly, the desert sun can be intense and unforgiving, so bringing sun protection such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat will help shield you from sunburn and heatstroke.

Additionally, while most tour operators provide tents and blankets, bringing your sleeping bag can offer added comfort and warmth and help ensure a good night’s sleep under the starry sky.

Basic toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, and wet wipes are also a must for your hygiene needs.

Moreover, since there are no street lights in the desert, carrying a flashlight or headlamp will aid you in navigating in the dark and provide much-needed illumination.

Don’t forget to pack a camera to capture the breathtaking natural beauty of the Merzouga desert.

Finally, it’s essential to bring enough cash as there are no ATMs in the desert, to cover any additional expenses such as souvenirs or tips.

It’s always wise to check with our tour operator for any additional items we may recommend for your specific tour. With a well-thought-out packing list, you’ll be prepared to experience the magic and beauty of the Merzouga desert.

Certainly! Riding a 4×4 to reach the desert camp is an alternative mode of transportation to the traditional camel ride. There are many factors to consider when deciding which mode of transportation is best for you, including personal preference, physical ability, and overall comfort.

Firstly, traveling by 4×4 vehicle can be a faster and more convenient option, allowing you to reach the desert camp in a shorter amount of time. This is especially true if you’re short on time or prefer not to spend an extended period of time on a camel.

Secondly, a 4×4 vehicle can offer greater comfort and safety, particularly for those who may have back or knee problems or difficulty riding on a camel. With air conditioning and comfortable seats, 4×4 vehicles can provide a more relaxing and enjoyable ride.

Thirdly, traveling by 4×4 vehicle can be more versatile than a camel ride, allowing you to explore a wider range of terrains and landscapes that may not be accessible on a camel. With the option to go off-road, you can discover more remote and scenic areas of the desert.

However, it’s worth noting that riding a camel can be a unique and memorable experience that offers a deeper connection to the local culture and history of the region. Additionally, some travelers may prefer the slower pace and closer interaction with nature that a camel ride can provide.

Ultimately, the decision to ride a 4×4 or a camel to reach the desert camp depends on your personal preferences and priorities. It’s essential to discuss your options with our tour company and weigh the pros and cons of each mode of transportation to make an informed decision.

In conclusion, whether you choose to ride a 4×4 or a camel on this 4 day Morocco desert tour, the experience of spending a night in the Merzouga desert camp will be an unforgettable adventure that offers a glimpse into the rich and fascinating culture of Morocco.

Yes, we can customized the 4 day desert tour to suit your preferences, and it’s possible to extend your tour by one or two nights. Extending your tour can be a great way to explore more of the desert and the surrounding area and to take the time to fully immerse yourself in the unique culture and landscapes of the region.

There are several options available for extending your Merzouga desert tour, depending on your interests and priorities. One possibility is to add an extra night in the desert camp, allowing you to spend more time relaxing, stargazing, and experiencing the tranquility and beauty of the desert.

Another option is to include additional activities in your tour, such as the hike in Dades Valley or Todra gorges, both of which offer stunning natural scenery and cultural experiences.
