Morocco Solo Travel
What to expect, example itineraries and answers from our local team Updated October 2026
Morocco solo travel is a rewarding way to see the country, because people here are curious, hospitable and quick to invite a guest for tea. Travelling alone can also feel intense at first: busy medinas, offers from every side and long distances between regions. That is why many solo travellers choose a little support, either a group to travel with or a local guide who knows where to go and who to trust.
We offer both. Our small group tours leave on set dates, so you can book a seat and meet your travel companions on day one. If you prefer your own rhythm, we plan a private trip for one person with a driver-guide, chosen hotels and activities that match your interests. Women who prefer a women-only group can join one of our women-only departures.
Morocco solo travel works best in one of two ways: join a small group tour with set departures and share the trip with other travellers, or book a private trip for one with your own driver-guide. Both take care of transport, hotels and local contacts, so you can enjoy the medinas, the Atlas and the Sahara without handling everything alone.

Why choose Morocco solo travel
- Company when you want it On a group departure you share meals, desert nights and long drives with other travellers. Many solo guests enjoy the mix of time together and time to explore alone in the cities.
- A local contact all the time Your guide or tour leader speaks the language, knows the customs and handles taxis, tickets and directions. You always have someone to call if plans change.
- No logistics to solve alone Transport between regions, hotel check-ins and desert camp transfers are arranged in advance. That leaves your energy for the places, not for the planning.
- Easy to meet local people Travelling with a local guide opens doors to family homes, village cooperatives and small workshops. A solo traveller is often welcomed warmly at the table.
- Your own pace on a private trip With a private trip for one, every stop is your choice: a longer morning in the Fes medina, an extra night in the dunes or a hike instead of a museum.

How to plan Morocco solo travel
Group or private?
If you want company and fixed dates, choose a group departure. If your dates are flexible or you have special interests, a private trip for one gives you full control; we confirm the price for one person on request.
Where to stay
Riads in the medina feel personal and safe, as the staff know each guest. We choose central addresses with a host on site, so you never arrive alone at a closed door late at night.
Best season for travelling alone
Spring and autumn are pleasant almost everywhere and the group departures are lively. In summer the desert is very hot; in winter nights in the Sahara and the Atlas are cold, so pack layers.
Simple safety habits
Dress modestly, keep valuables out of sight and agree on taxi fares before you get in. Say no politely to unofficial guides, keep your accommodation’s phone number with you and tell your guide your plans for free evenings.
Morocco Solo Travel: your questions
Is Morocco safe for solo travel?
Morocco is generally considered a safe destination, and many people travel there alone every year. The most common problems are pushy sellers, unofficial guides and small scams in busy medinas. Travelling with a local guide or in a group removes most of this stress.
Is Morocco safe for solo female travellers?
Many women travel in Morocco alone and enjoy it. Expect some attention in busy places, especially in the medinas; modest clothing, a calm firm “no, thank you” and a local guide help a lot. Our women-only group tours are another option if you prefer travelling with other women.
Is Morocco good for solo travel?
Yes, it is a great country to travel alone, with friendly people, varied landscapes and easy group or private tours. The first day can feel intense, so it helps to have your arrival and first nights organised.
What is a good Morocco solo travel itinerary?
For one week, Marrakech, the Atlas and a night in the Merzouga dunes is a classic choice. With ten days or more you can add Fes and Chefchaouen. We adapt any of our itineraries for one traveller.
Are there Morocco solo travel packages or group tours?
Yes. You can book a seat on one of our small group tours with set departures, or ask for a private package for one. Both include transport, accommodation and a local guide or driver-guide.
Is there a single supplement on a Morocco solo trip?
On group tours, a private room usually costs more than a shared one. On a private trip, the vehicle and guide are for you alone, so the price per person is higher than for a couple. We confirm the exact price on request.
Is Morocco safe for solo male travellers?
Yes, solo men usually travel without problems. The same advice applies: watch out for unofficial guides and inflated prices, keep valuables close and agree prices first.
What should I wear when travelling alone in Morocco?
Light, loose clothes that cover shoulders and knees are comfortable and respectful, especially in the medinas and villages. Bring a scarf, closed shoes for the medina and a warm layer for desert nights.
