The classic Morocco trip
Imperial cities and the Sahara at a good pace: Fes, the dunes of Merzouga, the gorges, Aït Benhaddou and Marrakech – with time for activities.
The grand tour
North to south, plus trekking days in the Atlas or relaxing time on the Atlantic coast, without long drives every day.
How to plan your Morocco itinerary
Five questions our team asks every traveller before we draw a route.
1. How many days do you need?
Four or five days are enough for Marrakech, the Atlas and one night in the Sahara. A one-week Morocco itinerary adds Fes or the coast, and with ten to fourteen days you can see the imperial cities, the desert, the mountains and the ocean without rushing.
2. Where should your itinerary start?
Most trips start in Marrakech, but a Morocco itinerary can just as well begin in Casablanca, Fes, Tangier or Agadir. Starting in one city and ending in another saves a long drive back – tell us your flights and we plan the route around them.
3. Is the Sahara worth the drive?
For most travellers it is the highlight. Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes are about two days by road from Marrakech through the Atlas and the gorges, so plan at least three to four days for a desert itinerary – or choose the Agafay desert near Marrakech for a short taste.
4. When is the best time to go?
Spring and autumn suit almost every Morocco itinerary. In summer we favour the coast and the high mountains; in winter the desert days are mild but the nights are cold, so we add warm stays and shorter drives.
5. Private trip or group tour?
Every Morocco itinerary on this page is a private trip with your own driver-guide, on your dates and at your pace. If you prefer to travel with others, see our small group tours and the family group trip.
