Use the extra day where it counts
Compared with 10 days, the eleventh day is best spent on one thing you would otherwise rush: a full hiking day in Chefchaouen, a second night in the dunes or a night in the High Atlas before Marrakech.
One way beats a loop
Arriving in one city and leaving from another – Tangier to Marrakech, Marrakech to Fes – saves a long day of driving back. Check flights from Fes, Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir before you choose.
Plan the desert by season
From June to August the Sahara is very hot; on 11 days you can then choose the coast and the Anti-Atlas instead. From October to April the dunes are perfect for camel treks and walks.

For a first visit: two days in Marrakech, the kasbahs and gorges to Merzouga, a night in a desert camp, Fes, and two nights in Chefchaouen. If you fly in and out of Casablanca, the same places work as a round trip.
