Morocco wellness retreat

A Morocco wellness retreat with us is built around your rhythm, not a fixed timetable. Start with a traditional hammam in Marrakech, rest in a riad courtyard with only the fountain for company, stretch on a yoga mat facing the Atlantic, and end with a night in the Merzouga desert where the silence is almost total. We plan the logistics so you can simply let go.

Wellness in Morocco has deep roots. The weekly hammam, argan oil, rose water from the south and slow meals shared around a tagine were part of daily life long before spas existed. We combine these traditions with gentle activity – walks in Atlas valleys, easy yoga, sunrise on the dunes – for a trip that leaves you rested rather than tired.

Why choose wellness and relaxation in Morocco

01

The hammam ritual

Steam, black soap, a vigorous scrub with the kessa glove and ghassoul clay: a Moroccan hammam leaves your skin softer than you thought possible. Choose a local public hammam for the real thing, or a spa hammam for privacy and a massage.

02

Riads made for rest

Traditional riads face inward around a courtyard garden. Behind thick walls, the noise of the medina disappears and the day slows down.

03

Yoga with a view

Yoga on a rooftop in Marrakech, in the Agafay stone desert or by the ocean in Taghazout and Essaouira. We arrange sessions with local teachers, from first-timer to experienced.

04

Gentle movement in nature

Easy walks between Atlas villages, a slow camel ride or a barefoot walk on the dunes at sunrise keep the body moving without effort or pressure.

05

Desert silence

A night in Erg Chebbi, far from screens and traffic, with a sky full of stars, is the most powerful reset many guests have ever known.

Who is Morocco wellness retreat for?

Useful information for Morocco wellness retreat

How a Moroccan hammam works

You move through warm and hot rooms, soften the skin with black soap (savon beldi), then an attendant scrubs you with a kessa glove before rinsing and clay. Public hammams are separated for men and women. Expect to be scrubbed hard, and say so if you want it gentler.

What to wear in a hammam

In a public hammam, women usually keep on bikini bottoms or underwear and men wear shorts or swimwear. Spa hammams give you disposable underwear. Bring a change of clothes and flip-flops.

Yoga sessions

We organise yoga with local teachers or in retreat venues, depending on the season and availability. Tell us your level and style, and whether you want daily practice or just a few sessions.

Who should be careful

Steam and heat are not advised in pregnancy, with heart problems or low blood pressure. Drink water before and after the hammam and do not go straight into the sun or a long drive.

Quiet places and timing

Medinas are busy and loud; for real rest we book riads in calm lanes, Atlas lodges or desert camps away from the crowds, and plan few early starts.

Before you book

Health
Steam and heat are not advised in pregnancy, with heart problems or low blood pressure – please tell us before booking and ask your doctor if unsure.
Not medical
Our retreats are about rest and well-being, not therapy or detox treatment.
Yoga level
Tell us your level, style and how many sessions you want; teachers depend on season and availability, and we confirm with you.
Hammam preferences
Public or spa hammam, women-only or couples’ room – let us know so we book the right place.
Quiet stays
Tell us if you need extra calm, step-free rooms or special meals, so we choose riads and camps that fit.

Best time for Morocco wellness retreat

Autumn, winter and spring are ideal: warm days, cool nights and soft light. Winter is perfect for the hammam and for sunny yoga on the coast. July and August are very hot inland, so summer retreats work best on the Atlantic coast.

Morocco wellness retreat: 10 questions

What is included in a Morocco wellness retreat?

With us it is tailor-made: usually riad or lodge stays, at least one hammam, yoga or gentle movement sessions, healthy Moroccan meals, and quiet time in the Atlas, on the coast or in the desert. You choose how active or lazy each day is.

Where is the best place for a Morocco wellness retreat?

Marrakech for hammams and riads, the Agafay desert and Atlas valleys for calm and views, Essaouira and Taghazout for ocean air and yoga, and Merzouga for desert silence. Many guests combine two or three.

When is the best time for a yoga retreat in Morocco?

October to May is ideal for most places. Winter is mild and sunny on the coast and in Marrakech. In summer, choose the Atlantic coast or the mountains rather than the desert.

What do you wear in a hammam in Morocco?

Women usually wear bikini bottoms or underwear, men wear shorts or swimwear. Spa hammams provide disposable underwear and a robe. Bring flip-flops and clean clothes for afterwards.

What is the difference between a public hammam and a spa hammam in Marrakech?

A public hammam is the neighbourhood bathhouse locals use: simple, lively and very cheap. A spa hammam is private and calm, with extras like massage and tea, and costs much more. Both are worth trying.

Are there women-only hammams in Marrakech?

Yes. Public hammams are separated for men and women, by building or by hours, and most spa hammams have female attendants for women. We can arrange women-only experiences on request.

Can couples do a hammam together in Marrakech?

Not in public hammams, which are separated by gender. Many spa hammams offer private couples’ rooms with a scrub and massage.

Is a meditation retreat in Morocco possible in the desert?

Yes. A few nights in a quiet camp in Erg Chebbi or Agafay, with sunrise walks on the dunes and time alone, is a natural setting for meditation. We can add a teacher depending on availability.

Is Morocco good for a solo wellness trip?

Yes. Riads are friendly and intimate, and our team handles transfers, bookings and guides, so you travel calmly. Many solo women choose Morocco for retreats.

Can I add hiking or surfing to a wellness retreat in Morocco?

Yes, gentle activity is part of our style. Easy Atlas walks, a beginner surf lesson or a camel ride at sunset fit well between hammam and yoga days.
