Quad Biking Marrakech: Palm Grove, Agafay & Sahara Dunes
Quad biking Marrakech with local guides: palm grove and Agafay desert rides, buggies for two, sunset trips and Sahara dune runs. Beginners welcome.
Quad biking Marrakech
Quad biking Marrakech style means leaving the city noise behind in minutes: dusty palm grove tracks, Berber villages and the rocky hills of the Agafay desert, with the Atlas Mountains on the horizon. Our guides ride in front, set the pace to the slowest rider and stop for photos and mint tea. You do not need any experience – we show you the controls and do a short practice loop before we leave.
Prefer to sit side by side? A buggy takes two people, so a parent can drive with a child or a couple can share the ride. And if you are heading to the Sahara with us, a quad or buggy session in the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga is a very different thrill: soft sand, steep crests and huge open views.
Best seasonOctober to May
Why choose quad & buggy rides in Morocco
Desert right next to the city
The Agafay stone desert and the palm grove are a short drive from Marrakech, so you can ride in the morning and be back in the medina for lunch.
Quad or buggy, your choice
A quad is for one rider who wants to steer and feel every bump. A buggy has a roll cage, seat belts and room for two – ideal for couples and families.
Real landscapes, not a track
You ride past olive groves, dry riverbeds, mud-brick villages and stony plateaus. Many groups stop at a village house for tea and bread.
Sunsets you will remember
Late-afternoon rides in Agafay finish as the hills turn pink and orange and the Atlas peaks catch the last light.
Dunes in the Sahara
On our desert tours you can add a quad or buggy run in the Erg Chebbi dunes – the real sand-sea experience most people picture.
Who is quad biking in Marrakech for?
First-timers
Automatic quads are easy to handle. Your guide explains throttle and brakes and keeps the speed comfortable until you feel confident.
Families
Older teens can drive their own quad; younger children ride as passengers in a buggy with a parent. Tell us ages when you book.
Couples and friends
Ride side by side in a buggy or each take a quad and enjoy the sunset together. A great half-day break from city sightseeing.
Groups and celebrations
Birthdays, stag and hen groups, and company outings work well. Note: this is not a good fit if you are pregnant or have back or neck problems.

Useful information for quad biking in Marrakech
What to expect
We pick you up from your riad or hotel and drive to the base. You get a helmet, a short briefing and a practice loop, then ride in single file behind the guide. Riding time depends on the option you choose; tea stops and photo breaks are included in the plan.
Do I need a licence?
On guided off-road quad and buggy rides you normally do not need a driving licence. Rules for age and passengers can differ by operator and vehicle, so we confirm them when you book.
Riding safely
Keep a safe gap from the rider in front – dust reduces visibility. Do not overtake the guide, and slow down on loose stones and in dry riverbeds. If you feel unsure, tell the guide; the group always waits.
Pick-up and timing
Morning rides start early to avoid the heat in summer; sunset rides leave Marrakech in the afternoon. Pick-up is usually from your accommodation or a nearby meeting point if your riad is deep in the medina.
Buggies and passengers
Buggies seat two (some larger models take more). Only one person drives at a time, and passengers must wear the seat belt for the whole ride.
Before you book
- Health
- Not recommended with back or neck problems, or during pregnancy – please tell us before booking.
- Age
- Drivers usually need to be 16 or older; younger children ride as buggy passengers with an adult – we confirm with you.
- Quad or buggy
- Tell us how many people want to drive and how many will be passengers, so we book the right vehicles.
- Clothes
- Closed shoes and long trousers are needed; sandals and shorts are not suitable on the quads.
- Pick-up
- Send us the name of your riad or hotel – if it is deep in the medina we agree a nearby meeting point.
Best time for quad biking in Marrakech
October to May is the most pleasant time for quad biking in Marrakech: warm days and comfortable temperatures. In June to September we ride early in the morning or at sunset to avoid the midday heat. Winter mornings can be cold, so bring a warm layer.

Quad biking in Marrakech: 10 questions
Is quad biking in Marrakech safe?
Yes, when it is done with a guide, a helmet and a proper briefing. Our guides ride in front, keep the group together and adapt the speed to the least experienced rider. Most problems come from speeding or riding too close, so we keep clear rules on the trail.
How much is quad biking in Marrakech?
Prices depend on the duration, quad or buggy, the area (palm grove or Agafay) and group size. Our price is on request – send us your dates and number of riders and we will reply with a clear quote that includes pick-up.
What is the age limit for quad biking in Marrakech?
Drivers are usually 16 or older, and younger children can ride as passengers in a buggy with an adult. The exact rule depends on the vehicle, so please tell us everyone’s age when you book.
What should I wear for quad biking in Marrakech?
Wear closed shoes, long trousers and a top you do not mind getting dusty. A scarf or buff over your nose and mouth helps a lot with dust, and sunglasses protect your eyes. Bring a light jacket for sunset rides.
Is it better to ride in Agafay or the palm grove?
The palm grove is flatter, greener and good for a first ride. Agafay has hills, wide stony plains and big Atlas views, and it is the best spot for sunset. If you want sand dunes, those are in the Sahara at Merzouga.
Do you need a license for quad biking in Morocco?
For guided off-road rides you normally do not need a driving licence. You do need to follow the guide’s instructions and wear the helmet provided.
What is the difference between a quad and a buggy in Marrakech?
A quad is a four-wheel motorbike for one rider, steered with handlebars. A buggy is a small off-road car with a steering wheel, seat belts and a roll cage, usually for two people. Buggies are more comfortable for passengers and children.
Can I go quad biking in Marrakech with kids?
Yes. Older teens can usually drive their own quad, while younger children ride as passengers in a buggy with a parent. We adapt the route and pace for families.
How long is a quad biking trip in Marrakech?
From one hour to six days. A short ride lasts 1 to 3 hours plus transfer time from your hotel; a half day covers pick-up, briefing, the ride and a tea stop. We also organise multi-day quad and buggy adventures of 2 to 6 days, from Marrakech to the Sahara.
Can I do quad biking in the Sahara desert?
Yes. On our desert tours to Merzouga you can add a quad or buggy session in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Riding in deep sand is more physical than in Agafay, so the guide gives extra instructions before you start.
