Things to Do in Morocco in June
Good for the coast and the mountains – the desert is hot, so go early and late. Updated October 2026 · by our local team
The best things to do in Morocco in June follow the cool air: up into the High Atlas and out to the Atlantic coast. The snow has gone from most trails, so Toubkal and the high passes open for trekking, and the canyons of the Atlas begin their season. On the coast, the wind blows steadily in Essaouira and the ocean is pleasant for surf lessons.
Inland, summer has arrived. Marrakech is hot in the afternoon and Merzouga is very hot at midday. You can still enjoy both – we simply change the rhythm: early starts, a long break in the shade, and activities again in the evening. Long days give you plenty of daylight to do it all.
The best things to do in Morocco in June are trekking in the High Atlas and climbing Toubkal, surfing, paddling and kitesurfing on the Atlantic coast, and the start of the canyoning season. The Sahara is already hot: camel rides and desert camps are still possible, but only at sunrise and sunset.
